Massimo Bernabo has two Ph.D.s, one from Universität Basel (History of Art) and one from Università degli Studi di Firenze (History of Theater). He has been Assistant Professor in History of Medieval and Modern Art at Istituto di Storia dell'Arte, Università di Firenze and has been a lecturer or adjunct professor at several universities. Currently, he lectures at Università di Siena. He has written numerous articles and has published three books: Il Fisiologo di Smirne. Le miniature del perduto codice B.8 della Biblioteca della Scuola Evangelica di Smirne (1998, Firenze: SISMEL), Spasso di principi e ingegno di artigiani: disegni d istrumenti e ricette di un maestri artigiano del Seicento, with Carlotta Mocali (1998, Firenze: Polistampa), and The Byzantine Octateuchs (The Illustrations in the Manuscripts of the Septuagint, 2) (1999, Princeton: The Department of Art and Archaeology, Princeton University; with Kurt Weitzmann).
