Georg Braulik, OSB, was born in Vienna in 1941. He has been a "Schottenabtei" Benedictine monk in Vienna since 1959. He earned a Doctorate in Theology from the University of Vienna in 1968 and a Doctorate in Biblical Studies from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome in 1973. Since 1976, he has been Professor of Old Testament Studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna. Dr. Braulik is the author of 15 books and approximately 100 articles, mainly in the field of biblical studies. Among his published works are a two volume commentary on Deuteronomy which is part of the Neue Echter Bibel series. He is currently working with Dr. Norbert Lohfink, SJ on a commentary of Deuteronomy for the Hermeneia series.
