BIBAL
Press was
established as the publishing agency of BIBAL Corporation, a
non-profit institute founded in 1986 in Berkeley, California
for the purpose of encouraging the study of biblical archaeology
and literature. The institute was founded over the kitchen table
of Dr. Duane Christensen, who remains the president of BIBAL
Corporation. For several years, it was able to publish only two
or three books a year. At the same time, it has been engaged
in a variety of activities including biblical language training,
archaeological tours, Christian lay leadership training, and
publication. The institute is non-sectarian and consciously ecumenical.
An informative newsletter, The Armchair Archaeologist, is published
occasionally. Dr. Christensen can be contacted via email at dlc@bibal.net.
In 1995, the press moved
its operations to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and in 1997, BIBAL
Press became an imprint of D. & F. Scott Publishing,
Inc., a commercial corporation incorporated in the state of Texas.
Although we are now a for-profit corporation, we remain commited
to the press's original goals of making available to the scholarly
and lay communities attractive, but affordable editions of works
in the field of religion and to make possible the publication
of worthy works by young scholars and deserving clergy. A portion
of the proceeds from our sales continues to support the non-profit
work of BIBAL Corporation.
